Youth Pastor
One Life Church is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Youth Pastor.

The role
• Salary £8669 (reviewed annually)
• 16 hours a week depending on experience
• 11 days plus bank holidays
• Subject to 3-month probationary period
• 2-year contract

Main responsibilities

• Within the vision of the church to plan and run an exciting, gospel based, weekly youth and
childrens’ programmes;
• To get alongside young people through mentoring, discipling, and mid-week groups;
• To help young people to see their potential and develop their God-given gifts;
• To work closely with Safeguarding Lead and ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are
followed;
• To engage with youth leaders locally and nationally through AOG;
• To create and deliver outreach opportunities for youth in the community, including schools, if
the opportunities arise;
• To assist in involving young people within the full life of the church;
• To adhere to church policies including data protection, health and safety;
• To be active in the full life of the church;
• To carry out duties as agreed with the leadership team.

Person Specification
• Due to the nature of this role, we believe that this post is subject to an occupational
requirement that the holder be a practicing Christian under part 1 schedule 9 of the Equality
Act 2010.
• The Post-holder will be a committed Christian, open to the work of the Holy Spirit and open to
sharing the good news of Jesus with young people in a relevant, attractive way;
• Once appointed play an active role in the full life of the church;
• Carry out other occasional duties as agreed;
• The Youth pastor will report to the Senior Pastor, attend meetings and training as required.

We are looking for someone who: 
  • Has a love for young people and families; 
  • Is a team player and works well alongside others; 
  • Is enthusiastic, motivated and is willing to try new things; 
  • Respects confidentiality and can be sensitive 
  • Is self-motivated and creative; 
  • Work to agreed deadlines as required. 

Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in teaching or youth ministry is desirable but is not essential; 
  • Clean drivers’ licence is desirable but is not essential. 

Skills 
We are looking for someone who: 
  • Has excellent pastoral skills with young people; 
  • Can communicate well with groups of young people and adults; 
  • Is confident in IT and can navigate social media; 
  • Can lead a team; 
  • Has a good level of literacy and numeracy; 
  • Can empathise and come alongside and develop others; 
  • Has strong organisational and management skills; 
  • Has a good knowledge of safeguarding (further training will be given);

The TIVERTON church meet at 11am Sunday mornings at St Andrew Street, Tiverton, Devon, EX16 6PH
